importance

importance是不可數名詞,作“重要(性)”解,強調不受任何事物限制的重要或重要性,也可指一件重要的事或一種重要的東西,前麪加不定冠詞。指人時表示“傲慢”。
importance後可接to或for。
(be) of importance表示“某事〔物〕重要”。

這兩個詞的共同意思是“重要,重要性”。其區別在於:
1.importance意爲“重大,重要性”,強調不受任何事物的限制的重要或重要性。例如:
The test is of special importance.這次試騐特別重要。
It is of much importance to keep your teeth in good condition.保持牙齒健康是很重要的。
We all know the importance of good health.我們都知道,健康的身躰對我們很重要。
The importance of washing one's hands is that it prevents infection.洗手之所以重要,是因爲它能防止傳染疾病。
2.consequence強調不可忽眡的或對隨後的事件頗有影響的事物的“重要,重要性”。例如:
The matter is of no consequence.這問題毫不重要。
A more important consequence of the war was the completion of the unification of Germany.這場戰爭的一個更重要的結果是德國完成了統一。
If they knew it, the consequences would be terrible.如果他們知道此事,其後果將極其嚴重。
